One of the best tips I have ever been given about photography is "don't be an equipment junky. Know what you have and use it." You can have all the best equipment in the world but if you don't know how to use it your not going to get the shoot you want. So there is not point buy the latest and greatest camera and then setting it to auto. So with macro photography your going to need to know your Minimum Focusing Distance, partially if your going to do what I have done in some of the images below. I didn't have the right lens for the job had to make do with what I had. I know I had a high number of pixels to place with so I made sure I was shooting at lest my Minimum Focusing Distance and this meant my images were not framed correctly so I cropped in post.
However don't misunderstand me, I suggest always having the right tool for the job but sometime things come up that you didn't for see. So if you know your equipment you maybe able to use them in different ways.
